Nov 11, 2022, GUWAHATI: On Friday morning, Assam police seized a large amount of explosives at Sonari in the Charaideo district and arrested a woman from Nagaland in connection with the seizure.
According to sources, the woman was in possession of seven cartons containing explosives.
Bheri Mizo, from Nagaland, has been identified as the arrested woman.
According to sources, the auto-rickshaw that was transporting the explosives was also seized.
Meanwhile Adam Toti, the driver of the auto rickshaw, has also been held in custody for questioning.
Previously, the explosives were transported to Sonari by night service bus from Guwahati.
Later, the woman attempted to smuggle the explosives-filled cartons to Nagaland through the Namtola checkpoint, where they were discovered and seized.
Namtola, a tiny township in Charaideo district, is the last point in Assam before entering Nagaland.
An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
