Kokrajhar: Assam has taken a remarkable step to honor the contribution of a great social reformer and student leader, Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
On 31st March 2023, the Government of Assam has dedicated this day as “Student Day” to pay tribute to the visionary leader who was born on this day in 1956.
The day will be observed in all educational institutions to remember the immense contribution of Shri Brahma towards the betterment of society.
The day will serve as a reminder of his vision and inspire the youth to work towards the betterment of society.
To mark this historic occasion, the Government of Assam has planned several initiatives to support and encourage students. A central program will be held at Shankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, where these initiatives will be launched.
These schemes aim to provide students with the necessary resources to achieve their academic goals and to encourage more students to pursue higher education.
The first initiative is the distribution of 52,000 tablets to schools, which will benefit students who do not have access to digital devices.
The second initiative is the scholarship program for girl students from minority communities.
The third initiative is the mobility grant for girl students of UG and PG courses.
The fourth initiative is the book grant program for UG and PG students.
The fifth initiative is the incentive on mess dues.
The sixth and final initiative is the fee waiver grant to colleges.
Taking to twitter State Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu wrote, “Government of Assam, in a historic move, dedicates 31st March as Student Day to pay tribute to Shri Upendra Nath Brahma, the great social reformer, who was born on 31st March 1956. The Students Day will be observed in all educational institutions as special homage to the student leader.”
“Several schemes will be launched on this day at a central program at Shankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati,” he added.
