The Assam DGP, GP Singh, has taken swift action in the aftermath of the recent violence in Manipur.
Singh has dispatched a police team to provide assistance to those affected by the unrest and to facilitate the safe return of individuals stranded in the state.
While it is reported that the majority of people from Assam residing in Manipur are not keen to return, Singh has ensured that the state government is making every effort to support those who do.
The four-member police team, headed by an IGP-level officer, has already arrived in Manipur and is actively working to facilitate the safe passage of stranded individuals.
The situation is being closely monitored, and helpline phone numbers have been made operational to provide additional support to those affected.
Clashes between the Meitei community and tribal groups have resulted in at least 54 deaths, and the situation remains tense.
The Assam government, under the guidance of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has taken a proactive stance in providing aid to those impacted by the unrest.
