Kokrajhar: On December 27, the Sahitya Akademi awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2022 to distinguished young writers from 24 Indian languages at Triveni Kala Sangam, Tansen Marg, New Delhi-1.
Among 24 writers, Alangbar Muchahary in Bodo Literature was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his story collection ‘Gang Fujanay Mase Dau’.
‘Gaan Fujanay Mase Dau’ contains 17 Bodo stories. The author used real-life characters to depict real-life incidents in this collection.
Alangbar’s stories have attempted to highlight and investigate social issues such as witch hunting, drug addiction, late marriage, and dowry system that are prevalent in Bodo society.
On the other hand, author Pradyumna Kumar Gogoi, was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2022 for his Assamese short story collection titled ‘Choki Aru Anyanya Galpa’ on December 27, 2022, in New Delhi.
Madhav Kaushik, Vice President of Sahitya Akademi, and Mamta Kalia, eminent litterateur presented the awards. The award winners received an engraved copper plaque as well as an amount Rs.50,000/- each.
