Kokrajhar: On January 26, the Assam government announced its decision to expand the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) territory by including 60 villages from Sonitpur district.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, attending as the chief guest at the 74th Republic Day celebrations at Veterinary College Field, Khanapara in Guwahati, announced the inclusion of 43 revenue villages and 17 FRC villages in Dhekiajuli, Behali, Sootea, Biswanath, and Gohpur LACs with more than 80% Bodo population in the BTR “as part of its commitment to implement” the tripartite Bodo Accord signed in January 2020 for permanent peace in the Bodo belt.

As a tribute to the Father of the Bodos, the 31st of March, the birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, is to be observed as ‘Student’s Day.
