Kokrajhar: A meeting on Forest Rights Act (FRA) was held on Thursday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kokrajhar, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kokrajhar, Smt. Varnali Deka, IAS.
The meeting discussed on pending claims at Sub-Divisional level, plan of action to expedite the verification process and challenges in depth.
Individual Forest Right (IFR) claims under Haltugaon Division were in the process of being approved, according to forest officials present at the meeting. The house also discussed over specific Act guidelines for implementation on the ground. After thoroughly verifying all claims received at the Sub-Divisional level, the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar asked all concerned officials to expedite the process for eligible persons filing claims.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Wadiul Islam, Civil Sub-Divisional Officers of Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora, Circle Officers of Kokrajhar, Dotma, Gossaigaon, Bhawraguri, and Divisional Forest Officers of Haltugaon, Kachugaon, and Parbatjhara Forest Divisions, as well as other district administration officers.
