Free Entry For Women For Women’s Premier League

March 2, 2023:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a significant step towards promoting women’s cricket by offering free entry for women and girls to the Women’s Premier League (WPL) tournament.

The move is aimed at increasing the number of attendees and developing a broader audience for women’s cricket in India.

The WPL, which is set to commence on March 4th, will feature five teams playing 22 matches. The Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz will participate in the tournament’s inaugural edition. The Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians will face each other in the opening match at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.

The BCCI has also announced that several Bollywood stars, including actresses Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani and music sensation AP Dhillon, will perform at the grand opening ceremony of the WPL 2023.

The tournament has already generated significant interest, with tickets for the matches being sold out on BookMyShow.

Women can still enter the stadium for free on a first-come-first-serve basis. Certain sections of the stadium have been reserved exclusively for women, while men can purchase tickets for Rs 100 and Rs 400.
