Dec 8, 2022, Guwahati: The Barsapara cricket stadium will soon host the One Day International match between India and Sri Lanka on January 2023. The match has been scheduled for January 10, 2023.

The three series ODI matches will also be held in Kolkata on January 12 and in Trivandrum on January 15.
Sri Lanka’s cricket team will visit India in January of the following year. In this regard, a team from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will fly to Guwahati to inspect the stadium.
Following the BCCI inspection, it will be decided whether or not Barsapara Stadium is suitable for hosting an ODI match. The BCCI officials are expected to arrive for the inspection on January 1.
The Stadium crew started preparing to get the field ready for the match.
Earlier, on October 1, 2022, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Northeast members in Guwahati.
It was also revealed during the meeting that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) intends to launch five indoor training facilities in the NorthEast by January 1, 2024.
The BCCI has designated locations in Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh so far. Land issues will cause a six-month delay in Meghalaya.
It is to be noted that Guwahati hosted the last international match between India and South Africa in October 2022, which India won by 16 runs.
