Flood Affecting Multiple Villages in Chirang District

Chirang district is struggling with the devastating impact of floods, with approximately 30 villages bearing the brunt of the rising waters. The Bengtal revenue circle accounts for 10 affected villages, while 13 villages in the Bijni revenue circle and six villages in the Sidli revenue circle are also facing the consequences of the floods.

Adding to the dire situation, major rivers such as Aie, Makra, Lalai, Khana, and Nangalbhanga, which flow downstream from Bhutan, have surpassed the danger mark. These rivers pose a significant threat to the affected areas and intensify the challenges faced by the local communities.

Speaker BTCLA Speaker Inaugurates Model Community Toilet and Water Supply

85-Year-Old Man Swept Away in River Brahmaputra

An 85-year-old man, Bhogeswar Bora, lost his life while taking a bath in the River Brahmaputra on Thursday morning. The incident occurred in Gayan village, located in the Majuli region of Assam.

Bora, a resident of the village, had a daily routine of bathing in the Brahmaputra, which flowed right beside his house on the river island. However, on that day, strong currents proved fatal as they swept him away. 

Tragically, a few meters downstream from where he was last seen, Bora’s lifeless body was discovered on the river banks. Local sources confirmed the news.

Man Allegedly Murdered by his Friend in Tinsukia

A shocking incident unfolded in the Tinsukia district of Assam, as a 35-year-old man identified as Badlu Mura was reportedly murdered by his friend on Tuesday night.

The distressing event occurred in the Rabar Bari area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Langkashi Police.

The alleged perpetrator, identified as Umakanta Bhuyan, is accused of using a sharp object to carry out the heinous act.

The motive behind this gruesome murder remains unknown at this time. Police swiftly responded to the scene upon receiving the information and apprehended Bhuyan.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

DTFI Meeting Held for IMI 5.0 Activities in Kokrajhar

The Dist Task Force Immunization (DTFI) meeting for intensified Mission Indradhanush(IMI 5.0) was held recently at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar. The meeting was chaired by the DC, Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka, and attended by ADC, JDHS and Other members

The purpose of the meeting was to review the preparedness of the upcoming IMI 5.0 activities. During the meeting, the attendees discussed the progress made so far and the challenges faced in the immunization drive.

Six Dead in Nepal Helicopter Crash Near Mount Everest

A helicopter crash near Mount Everest in Nepal has claimed the lives of six people, among them were five Mexican nationals. 

The accident occurred near Mount Everest in Likhu Pike Rural Municipality-5 Bhakanje, and the Manang Air helicopter was flying from Surke in Solukhumbu to Kathmandu.

The 9NA-MV helicopter lost contact at 10:01 am on Tuesday.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

First meeting of the Educational CRCCs held at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar

The first meeting of the Educational Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was held on July 11th, 2023, at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar.

The event was organized by the Education Department of BTC and was attended by dignitaries including Chief Guest Cabinet Minister Shri Urkhao Gwra Brahma and CEM Shri Pramod Boro. The meeting aimed to discuss the role of CRCCs in providing quality education to students in the BTR region.

The event featured informative documentaries and presentations that highlighted the significance of CRCCs in the government’s mission to bring about a transformative change in BTR’s school education. The meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including MLAs Shri Lawrence Islary and Shri Jiron Basumatary, EM Dr. Dr Nilut Swargiary, DC Kokrajhar Smt Varnali Deka, State Consultant (TT) SSA, Shri Surajit Kalita, Principal, B.Ed. College Gossaigaon, Dr.Ajit Boro, and senior officials of the Education Department, BTC, BEEO, and DEEO.

During the meeting, BTR CEM Shri Pramod Boro emphasized the crucial role of CRCCs in coordinating all the educational system’s pillars at the grassroots level to achieve the mission of vastly improving BTR’s education infrastructure and ensuring that students receive quality education. He stated that CRCCs are essential tools in driving the educational agenda forward.

Crash Investigation Team Visits Accident-Prone Area for Road Safety Enhancement
