Chirang district is struggling with the devastating impact of floods, with approximately 30 villages bearing the brunt of the rising waters. The Bengtal revenue circle accounts for 10 affected villages, while 13 villages in the Bijni revenue circle and six villages in the Sidli revenue circle are also facing the consequences of the floods.
Adding to the dire situation, major rivers such as Aie, Makra, Lalai, Khana, and Nangalbhanga, which flow downstream from Bhutan, have surpassed the danger mark. These rivers pose a significant threat to the affected areas and intensify the challenges faced by the local communities.
