In a major boost to the commitment shown by healthcare workers and the government to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in Assam, the state health and family welfare department have been conferred the national award for reduction in TB cases in two districts — Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar — under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
The Union ministry of health and family welfare conferred the award at the One World TB Summit held at Varanasi which was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Friday.
Bongaigaon district was awarded silver for 40% reduction in TB cases and Kokrajhar district was awarded bronze for 20 percent reduction in TB cases respectively in the Sub National Certification for the year 2023.
