Saweety Boora wins gold medal by defeating Chinas’s Wang Lina in the 81kg category final at the Women’s World Boxing Championship taking place in Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi on March 25.
This is India’s second medal in the event after Nitu Ghanghas also took top honours earlier in the day in the 49-kg category.
Earlier in the day, Nitu Ghanghas beat Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altansetseg 5-0 to seal the title.
With this win, Nitu and Saweety became the 6th and 7th Indian woman to win a gold medal at Women’s World Boxing Championships.
