Tezpur University and the Government of BTR have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering sustainable livelihoods in the region.
The momentous occasion took place in the presence of Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, and Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh.
Under the terms of the MoU, Tezpur University will provide enhanced knowledge support to promote healthy and sustainable livelihoods in BTR.
A notable highlight of the agreement is the establishment of the Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Chair at Tezpur University. This marks the first time a Chair has been named after Bodofa UN Brahma in a central university, serving as a fitting tribute to the esteemed Father of the Bodo People and bringing his name to the forefront of the national academic mainstream.
The primary focus of the MoU is to support the agricultural sector and facilitate sustainable livelihoods in BTR. This collaboration between the government and one of Assam’s premier universities is expected to bring about a new era of cooperation and progress.
The signing of the MoU signifies a landmark achievement in the development of BTR’s agricultural sector. It will pave the way for multidisciplinary research in critical areas such as disease detection and prevention, as well as the exploration of innovative food processing and engineering technologies. The ultimate goal is to drive forward the agricultural industry and ensure a prosperous future for the region.
