The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 crore for the Indian men’s football team in recognition of their outstanding triumph in the Hero Intercontinental Cup held in Odisha.
The thrilling final of the Hero Intercontinental Cup took place at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday night, where India secured a resounding 2-0 victory over Lebanon.
Captain Sunil Chhetri and Lallianzuala Chhangte were the scorers who propelled India to claim the Intercontinental Cup, marking their first triumph in the tournament after a gap of 46 years. With his goal in the final match, India’s captain Sunil Chhetri has now amassed an impressive total of 87 international goals, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in Indian football.
