Bodoland Pig Mission Delegation Completes Successful Visit to Denmark

June 19, 2023

A delegation from the Bodoland Pig Mission, a flagship mission of the Government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), has concluded its week-long scoping visit to Denmark.

Led by EM Wilson Hasda and MCLA Mantu Baro, the delegation included Principal Secretary Anurag Goel and other senior officials.

The delegation engaged in strategic meetings and field visits, focusing on collaboration opportunities with the Danish Consortium for Academic Craftsmanship and knowledge sharing in pig farming. They engaged with Danish experts at Dalum Landbrugsskole, an agricultural college, and various institutions such as Zealand Business College (ZBC), Danish Agricultural and Food Council, Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Copenhagen University.

To gain insights into pig farming and meat production, the delegation visited Allindemagle Landbrug, an integrated pig farm, and Bjergsted Slagter, a small-scale pig abattoir. They observed best practices and processes in these facilities.

Additionally, they explored sustainable waste management at the Ringsted Biogas plant, which has a daily capacity of 350 tons.

The scoping visit proved to be timely and strategic for the Bodoland Pig Mission, resulting in a six-year action plan benefiting 60,000 farmers in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The delegation also met with Indian Ambassador Pooja Kapur at the Indian Embassy, aiming to strengthen ties between the Bodoland Territorial Council and the embassy.
