Kokrajhar: The 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship concluded on March 23 with a fitting finale on the final day of the tournament. The event saw some of the best players from across the continent competing hard to emerge victorious.
The Indian Men’s and Women’s teams put up an outstanding show, displaying their expertise in the game, and were rightly rewarded for their superlative performance.
Team Nepal also put up a commendable contest and deserves applause for their efforts.
What makes this achievement even more significant is that the grand international sporting event was organized in Tamulpur, a rural area of BTR, for the first time.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the vision and impetus to sports in the northeast provided by PM Narendra Modi and the constant support of Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa.
Governor of Assam Gulab Kataria, President of Kho-Kho Federation of India Sudhanshu Mittal, and DGP Assam GP Singh IPS graced the Closing Ceremony with their presence, adding to the prestige of the event. Several other dignitaries and guests, including Speaker ALA Biswajit Daimary, Cabinet Ministers Pijush Hazarika, UG Brahma, MLA Lawrence Islary, Jolen Daimary, and many more, were also present.
The BTR Chief, Pramod Boro, expressed his sincere gratitude to the residents of Tamulpur, BTR, for their warm hospitality, which helped make the event a success. He also thanked the people of BTR for their efforts in promoting peace and prosperity in the region, which made it possible to hold an event of such magnitude. The Asian Kho-Kho Federation and the Assam Kho-Kho Association also deserve special mention for their steadfast support and assistance.
The local organizing members and volunteers worked tirelessly to make this event a grand success.
Lastly, the players from Korea, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Iran, who played their hearts out, deserve best wishes for their future endeavors. The tournament was a thumping success.
