In honor of International Earth Day, a successful Barak river cleanup event was held at Shib bari Road in Tarapur, organized by Silchar NCC cadets, the Pollution Control Board Assam Regional Laboratory Office, Silchar, the Silchar Municipal Board, and the NGO Robinhood Army.
The initiative resulted in the removal of approximately 6 tons of garbage from the river banks on Sunday, which was disposed of with the help of the Silchar Municipal Board. The Pollution Control Board officials also encouraged local residents to dispose of their household waste in the common garbage bins provided by the local bodies.
Furthermore, the Pollution Control Board representatives gave NCC cadets a demonstration on water parameters such as PH, COD, and BOD, and a river water sample was collected.
