In an exciting event today, President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a thrilling jeep safari inside the Kaziranga National Park’s central range during her second day of visit to Assam.
Accompanied by officials, the President witnessed several wild animals, including one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalos, deers, and birds during her safari tour.
Notably, she also got the opportunity to feed elephants inside the park, which added to the excitement of her trip.
In addition to her safari tour, President Murmu inaugurated the two-day ‘Gaj Utsav-2023’ (elephant festival) at the Kaziranga National Park High School’s play ground field.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Assam governor Gulab Chand Kataria and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The festival aims to promote and celebrate the significance of elephants in Indian culture and society.
Murmu will leave for Guwahati on Friday afternoon where she will flag off the ‘Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023′ and attend the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati high court in the evening.
On Saturday, she will take a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Air Force station in Tezpur, before departing for Delhi.
The President had on Thursday arrived in Assam on a three-day visit.
