On Monday, Chabua police in Assam’s Dibrugarh opened fire on a truck suspected of smuggling coal, officials said.
According to reports, the incident reportedly happened last night on the Chabua bypass. The truck reportedly fell on the roadside after being shot.
According to officials, one person from the truck has been arrested. They also stated that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police also stated that they were on the trail of the truck from Tinsukia and that when the truck did not stop despite repeated attempts, the police had to shoot.
So far, no casualties have been reported as a result of the incident. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and took the driver for questioning.
