Assam witnessed a momentous accomplishment when two native climbers, Jayanta Nath and Bhaskar Baruah, conquered Mount Kanchenjunga.
They proudly displayed the Indian flag and the Assamese Gamosa at the magnificent summit.
This remarkable achievement, accomplished by the Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA), has made history as the first time an organization from Northeast India has accomplished such an impressive triumph.
The news of their successful climb spread throughout the nation, igniting a wave of celebration and admiration.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to extend his heartfelt congratulations to the triumphant team. With great joy, he shared, “In a moment of soaring pride for us, glad to share that 7:15 am today, two Assamese mountaineers – Bhaskar Baruah and Jayanta Nath unfurled the Tiranga and the Gamnusa at Mt Kanchenjunga, 3rd highest mountain peak.”
Further expressing his appreciation, he emphasized, “With this, Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA) has become the first organisation from NE to have this unique distinction. We are honoured to have supported this endeavour. My congratulations to the Mountaineers and AMA.”
