Manas National Park to Remain Close For Tourist Every Tuesday From April 10

Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam’s Baksa district will remain closed every Tuesday from April 10 for all Ecotourism activities. This was informed by the Office of Field Director of the national park.

The Assam Forest Department shared the notification from their official Twitter handle.
The notification dated April 1 read, “In compliance with the Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, National Tiger Conservation Authority letter no. 15-15/2022-NTCA dated March 1, 2023 and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Assam, letter no Wl/FG.35/NTCA/Pt-V dated March 4,2023, it is hereby informed to all concerned that the Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve shall remain closed for all Ecotourism activities on the Tuesday of every week with effect from April 10, 2023.”

On September 2022, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and Indian Hotel Company Limited (IHCL) had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting-up hospitality projects at Manas National Park.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, BTC Chief Pramod Bodo and authorities of Hotel Company.

Signing the MoU, Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said, “Earlier feared to go to Manas but now the tourist flow has increased. Pramod Bodo has done a lot of hard work. We have succeeded in transforming terrorism to tourism. Today we have planned to construct hotel by making an agreement with the Tata Group. We have also tried to improve the infrastructure so that more tourists could be attracted towards Manas.”

He further stated that the hotel will be constructed in an area of 3.25 acres of land. The company of Taj Group will construct this Jinjar brand hotel in Manas National Park.

The hotel will be of 70-80 rooms, he added. This hotel will also increase both domestic and foreign tourists.

Assam TET Exam Cancelled For Next Two Years, Says Education Minister Ranoj Pegu

Assam government announced that the state will no longer hold Middle English (M.E) Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) examination from this year, reports emerged on Wednesday.

According to sources, the education department of the state informed Gauhati High Court that the state will no longer hold ME TET examination.

However, the high court has not issued any order or directive in connection with the matter.

In January this year, the Assam government had informed that the TET will not be held in the state for the next two years.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the decision was taken as there are many candidates who have passed the TET examination against the available vacancies.

Pegu said, “CTET qualified candidates will now be allowed to apply for jobs from this year onwards. Candidates who have already qualified CTET will be able to submit their application against vacant posts.”

Meanwhile, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Secretary Sankar Jyoti Baruah had said that a large number of applicants are expecting to get a job by clearing TET examinations, when asked by reporters to comment on the decision of the state government.

He said that many job seekers had prepared for the exam and it would be disastrous for them, appealing to the government to re-assess their decision.

The hero of the match, Sai Sudharsan scored a half-century with his solid batting performance. He remained unbeaten on 62 off 48 balls.

He shared a match-winning 56-run unbroken stand with South African cricketer David Miller (31 not out; 16 balls) as they romped home with 11 balls to spare.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Gujarat Titans came up with a disciplined bowling effort to restrict Delhi Capitals to 162/8.

Ceremonial Distribution of Ex-gratia Grants To The Martyrs Family of Bodoland Movement

Kokrajhar: On April 3rd, 2023, BTR CEM Pramod Boro distributed ex-gratia grants of ₹5 Lakhs each to the families of 201 martyrs of the Bodoland Movement at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar.

This distribution marks Phase 2 of the ex-gratia grants to the martyrs’ families, with the families of 40 martyrs receiving their grants in Phase 1 by Home Minister Amit Shah.

The distribution of these grants is in accordance with the clauses enshrined in the historic Bodo Peace Accord of 2020.

The ex-gratia grants being provided to the families of martyrs is a significant step in honoring the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives in the Bodoland Movement.

At the ceremony, Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTR EMs, MCLAs, and several dignitaries were present to show their support for the families of the martyrs.

The event was a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the martyrs and a celebration of their contribution to the Bodoland Movement.

Government Implemented E-KYC process for ration cardholder families to facilitate enrollment in Ayushman Bharat scheme

Ayushman Bharat is a flagship healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India in 2018 to provide financial protection and health coverage to economically vulnerable families.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail health insurance cover of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalization care.

Recently, the government has introduced an E-KYC process for all ration cardholder families to facilitate easier enrollment in the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

The E-KYC process enables families to complete the necessary documentation and verification process online, without the need for physical submission of documents. By making the Ayushman Bharat scheme more accessible through the E-KYC process, the government aims to ensure that every eligible family can avail of the benefits of this healthcare scheme.

This is a significant step towards ensuring universal health coverage for all citizens, particularly those from economically vulnerable backgrounds.

Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, eligible families can avail cashless health coverage for a wide range of medical treatments, including surgery, diagnostic tests, and medication.

The scheme covers both pre-existing and newly diagnosed medical conditions, and is available across public and private hospitals empaneled under the scheme.

Guwahati to host first-ever IPL match

Indian Premier League (IPL) sides Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals are set to arrive in Guwahati on Monday ahead of the clash on April 5 at the ACA Barsapara Stadium here.

This comes after Guwahati got the chance to host an IPL match for the very first time which was confirmed when the schedule was released for the ongoing season on February 17. Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati will be the home ground for Rajasthan Royals for two IPL matches.

As per reports, Punjab Kings will arrive in Guwahati at around 4 pm today. They will be arriving at the Borjhar airport in a special flight from Delhi numbered G8-151.

On the other hand, home team Rajasthan Royals will also be touching down in Guwahati today. Their flight from Hyderabad numbered SG-9321 will be landing at around 5.30 pm.

From the airport, both teams will head straight to their hotels. While Punjab Kings will be put up at the Vivanta Hotel in Guwahati’s Khanapara area, Rajasthan Royals will head to the Radisson Blu Hotel along the National Highway.

On February 17, IPL released the schedule for the season with Guwahati selected as one of the venues to host two matches. This meant that IPL would be available to cricket lovers in the northeastern city for the first time ever.

According to the schedule, Guwahati will witness Rajasthan Royals play Punjab Kings in the first of the two IPL matches on April 5 (Wednesday). The match will be played at 7.30 pm.

Moreover, the second IPL match will be played two days later on April 8 (Saturday) where Rajasthan Royals will take on Delhi Capitals. That match will take place at 3.30 pm.

It may be noted that IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals has an agreement with the Assam Cricket Association and also promotes the youth game here in Guwahati.

Speaking about it ACA President Taranga Gogoi had said, “Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, there were talks of organising an IPL match in Guwahati. However, the plans were shelved during the pandemic as the IPL had to shifted to Dubai and was only played at selected venues.”

He said, “Assam Cricket Association has always wanted to host an IPL match in Guwahati and as there are no northeast based teams in the IPL, we requested Rajasthan Royals to consider Guwahati as their home ground. On their behalf, a team came to inspect the ground and the facilities available.”

Kojrajhar: The 10th Baokhungri Festival 2023 sports programme will kick off with the flag-off for the marathon race on April 12, which will see participants from all over the region compete for the top prize.

Assam CM lays foundation stones for various developmental projects in Udalguri

Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today, marked a momentous occasion by laying the foundation stones for various developmental projects in Udalguri district and nearby areas.

The projects are expected to significantly boost the growth and development of Panery as well as the BTR.

The foundation stone laying schemes and projects AMRUT 2 are being implemented under 0 Tangla city water supply scheme, inspection bungalow construction in Tongla, Tongla higher secondary school building, reconstruction of Nonoi river Jalimukh dam including brice closings under rural infrastructure development fund, promotion of Tongla community health centre to sub-division health centre, and Chilarai Bhavan of Bhergaon.

Furthermore, Assam CM Sarma announced a grant of Rs 25 crore for Tongla city beautification, including drainage development, and Rs 10 crore for the construction of an auditorium at Tongla College.

Teacher Killed in Road Accident

In a very sad incident, a school teacher perished in a two-wheeler accident in the Kachua region of Nagaon. According to local reports, Muksadur Rahman was involved in a road accident on Saturday.

The incident took place at around 10 AM. Bystanders had mentioned that he was travelling on his two-wheeler on the roads of the Satlunga village when the incident took place. He had to brake suddenly making his vehicle go out of control and causing severe injuries to the teacher.

He was shifted to the Kachua Model Hospital immediately after the incident. But he had to be shifted to Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital of Nagaon for better medical care in a very critical condition. But he passed away on the way to the hospital.

Maksadur Rahman was 51 years old and was serving as the principal of the Kachua Uttar Chankhula Primary School at the time of the accident. In a different incident, two people were instantly killed when their motorbike hit a tree on the side of the road. The tragedy occurred on Thursday at about midnight in the Salkocha block of Chapar town in Assam’s Dhubri district. According to sources, the accident took place when the driver of the two-wheeler lost control and slammed into a tree by the side of the road while travelling at a high rate of speed.

Paban Choudhury and Debajit Roy perished at the scene as a result of the collision. After learning of the occurrence, local police responded to the calls. A resident who saw the incident said, “A little after midnight, the disaster happened. The two fatalities were returning home after attending a Basanti Puja when the accident happened.”

Paban Choudhury was 32 years old and Debajit Roy was 27 years old when they passed away. Also, according to the information obtained, Debajit resided in the Gourang Nagar and Paban in the Agomani neighbourhood of the Dhubri district. The motorbike that was involved in the collision has the licence plate AS17N3158.
