Ayushman Bharat is a flagship healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India in 2018 to provide financial protection and health coverage to economically vulnerable families.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail health insurance cover of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalization care.
Recently, the government has introduced an E-KYC process for all ration cardholder families to facilitate easier enrollment in the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The E-KYC process enables families to complete the necessary documentation and verification process online, without the need for physical submission of documents. By making the Ayushman Bharat scheme more accessible through the E-KYC process, the government aims to ensure that every eligible family can avail of the benefits of this healthcare scheme.
This is a significant step towards ensuring universal health coverage for all citizens, particularly those from economically vulnerable backgrounds.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, eligible families can avail cashless health coverage for a wide range of medical treatments, including surgery, diagnostic tests, and medication.
The scheme covers both pre-existing and newly diagnosed medical conditions, and is available across public and private hospitals empaneled under the scheme.
