In an event held at the DC Office Conference Hall, the Kokrajhar district of Assam inaugurated Suroxiti Xaishab, Sonali Axom, a 90-day Campaign for District Child Protection.
This initiative represents a significant stride towards safeguarding the safety, well-being, and rights of children in the region. Esteemed guests and several officials attended the launching ceremony.
Lawrence Islary, the MLA representing Kokrajhar East, led the proceedings as the chief guest. With the lighting of the inaugural lamp, MLA Islary symbolically marked the beginning of a focused and determined endeavor to ensure the rights of every child in the district.
The District Child Protection Unit Kokrajhar organized the event with the Kokrajhar District Administration. The State Child Protection Society and the Department of Women and Child Development Assam further supported this joint effort, emphasizing the widespread commitment to the cause.
Notable figures in attendance included Varnali Deka, the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, and Nabinita Sarma, the Additional Superintendent of Police. Satyaban Brahma, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, and Gunindra Talukdar, the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and In-charge District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), were also present.
Moreover, representatives from the Juvenile Justice Board, the Labour Department, the One Stop Centre, District Child Protection Units, NGOs, and other stakeholders actively participated in the program.
