3 Boro Athletes Excel as Assam Government Honors Medal Winners from 36th National Games

The Assam government has taken a significant step to encourage young athletes by announcing immediate government job opportunities for those who win medals in prestigious sporting events such as the National Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, or Olympics.

On June 11, the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, personally handed over appointment letters to nine deserving medal winners from the 36th National Games of 2022. The ceremony occurred at the CM conference hall in Janata Bhawan, Dispur.

Among these outstanding athletes were Ankushita Boro, Sanma Brahma, and Rongila Daimary, who represented the proud Boro community as three talented athletes. Alongside them, Ananya Saikia, Adnita Kakati, Bikram Changmai, Dipankar Sarmah, Bangita Hazarika, and Ananda Narzary were also recognized for their remarkable achievements in the fields of Wushu, Boxing, Lawn Ball, and Swimming.

In addition to acknowledging the medal winners, the Assam government honoured the Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition Team for successfully scaling the peak on May 23, thereby bringing great laurels to the state.

Furthermore, the Assam government is committed to developing world-class sporting facilities across every state district. An investment of Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated over the next few years.
