Assam sends Judo team to the Junior National Judo Championship, 6 of whom are from Bodo Community

15 Dec, 2022: Assam sends Judo team to participate in the forthcoming Junior National Judo Championship on Wednesday, December 14, consisting of eight boys and seven girls.

The Championship will be held at Ranchi from December 16.

A programme was held at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium (DTRP) in Guwahati where special kits were distributed among the players before departing for the tournament.

The event was attended by Sailen Deka, President of the All Assam Judo Association, Secretary Zaffarudin Khan and Nayanmoni Saikia, a renowned Indian Lawn Bowls player.

Boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 21 will compete in the Junior National Judo Championship.

The girls’ team will be accompanied by Coach Bikash Gohain and Manager Rupa Dutta to this tournament.
Girls Team Players are- Jyotilota Deori (below 44 kg), Monisha Dutta (below 48 kg), Soniya Basumatary (below 52 kg), Bharasha Basumatary (below 57 kg), Anisha Basumatary (below 63 kg), Manaka Basumatary (below 70 kg) and Dharitri Sonowal (below 78 kg).

Whereas, the men’s team will be accompanied by Coach Muktar Ahmad and Manager Putul Sonowal for this tournament.
Men’s Team Players are- Jorsh Narzary (below 55 kg), Abhijit Boro (below 60 kg), Indralabh Sharma (below 66 kg), Rohitson Ronghang (below 73 kg), Joydeep Nath (below 81 kg), Lakhya Jyoti Gogoi (below 90 kg), Sankar Jyoti Saikia (below 100 kg) and Chanakya Gogoi (above 100 kg).
