Dec 24, 2022: The 2023 Indian Premiere League (IPL) auction turned out to be a record-breaking event on December 23 in Kochi. The 16th edition of the IPL sees 991 players register for the auction as 10 franchises compete to outbid each other for some of T20 cricket’s hottest properties.
Here are the 5 most expensive players in the IPL 2023 auction and the teams they will play for:
England’s Sam Curran became the most expensive player in the history of IPL auction after Punjab Kings signed him for a whopping Rs. 18.5 crores.
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was signed by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.50 crores, making him the IPL’s second most expensive player.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) signed Ben Stokes for Rs. 16.25 crores in order to secure a captaincy candidate for the post-Dhoni era.
Nicholas Pooran, the West Indies player was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for whooping Rs 16 crores.
The England batter Harry Brook also set the auction table on fire by going for a whopping Rs. 13.25 crores to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).
