Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express through a video conference on Monday. This marks the introduction of the first-ever Vande Bharat service in the Northeast.
During the inauguration, PM Modi expressed his optimistic outlook on the first Northeast Vande Bharat train, highlighting its potential to not only boost tourism but also improve connectivity in the Northeast.
The newly launched Vande Bharat Express will connect Guwahati with New Jalpaiguri, offering travelers a faster journey. It is expected to reduce travel time by approximately an hour in comparison to the current fastest train operating on this route. Covering a distance of 410 kilometers, the train will complete the journey in a time frame of five-and-a-half hours.
This marks the 18th operational Vande Bharat Express service, with operations commencing today (Monday). The train will depart from New Jalpaiguri at 6:10 am, reaching Guwahati around mid-day.
From Guwahati, the Vande Bharat Express will depart at 4:30 pm and arrive at New Jalpaiguri at approximately 10:20 pm.
Operating six days a week, the train will make stops at six stations, including New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, as well as the junctions of New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati.
