Dec 2, 2022: Guwahati (Assam): The Assam government took a critical step on Friday to recruit five newly raised commando battalions in order to strengthen the state’s security.
The Indian Army will train these new Assam Police commandos in seven different locations across the state.
Today marks the first day of Assam Police training at Narangi Cantt in Guwahati.
Senior army officials, as well as Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, attended the event.
Approximately 3,000 personnel from the five new commando battalions will be trained as part of the programme, Mahanta announced during the ceremony.
According to the DGP, three of them will be enforced for anti-terrorism operations, while the other two will be deployed to maintain general law and order.
