Nov 17, 2022: On Thursday, Udalguri Police in Assam arrested one person for allegedly being involved in human trafficking.
Officials say that the accused sold two minor girls in Delhi. The accused were apprehended at Nonaipara Tea Estate in Paneri, Udalguri district, by a police team.
Sonu Mukta, according to officials, is the accused.
During questioning, Mukta allegedly revealed explosive details on camera about a deadly network of human traffickers in the state.
Police also stated that the accused sold the two minor girls for Rs 10,000.
Meanwhile, Assam Police has rescued 12 minor girls so far. Furthermore, as many as eight human traffickers have been apprehended across the state thus far.
It may be noted that on November 1, a human trafficking ring was busted in Sarthebari, Assam’s Barpeta district.
As per reports, a minor girl was abducted from Sarthebari a year ago by a man identified as Sahar Ali alias Bablu. Ali was apprehended after police conducted searches in Majdia, Sarthebari.
The girl, on the other hand, was rescued from Haryana. Sahar Ali allegedly sold the girl in Haryana for Rs 1.20 lakhs. In connection with the case, two Haryana residents, Rajesh Kumar and Anil Kumar, were also arrested.
