Dec 15, 2022: Sanju Tripathi (38), a former General Secretary of the Congress Party, was shot dead in broad daylight in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred while the leader was driving his SUV and the attackers surrounded and stopped his vehicle.
They then opened fire on Tripathi, who was sitting in the driver’s seat. The leader was killed on the spot.
Parul Mathur, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bilaspur, stated, “According to eyewitnesses, Tripathi was going in his car near the bypass when two-three people arrived and opened fire. Tripathi sustained bullet injuries in his head and he died on the spot.”
As per preliminary investigations, the incident is suspected to be related to a land dispute. Sanju Tripathi’s brother filed a case in connection with this a few days ago at the Civil Line Police Station in Bilaspur.
According to the police official, further investigation into the matter is underway following primary interrogation of family members.
